School software for Steiner-Waldorf schools

Follow a whole schooling without reducing it to averages

EMG brings pedagogical tracking, school reports and the student portfolio into one place — built around the vocabulary and the rhythm of a Steiner-Waldorf school.

Your pedagogy, not an imported model

Your classes, your cycles, your words

Most school software assumes marks, averages and the French national grade system. EMG starts from how a Steiner-Waldorf school is actually organised — and still welcomes those that follow the French system.

Fourteen years

Kindergarten, then class 1 through class 13. Grade levels exist as you name them, not translated into someone else's grid.

Your cycles

Classes and grade levels group into pedagogical cycles that you define yourself, with your own terms and dates.

Your mastery scale

Objective attainment levels are configurable per school. Our labels are not imposed on yours.

Mixed paths

CP to CM2, Seconde, Première, Terminale: French grade names are recognised, so students joining or leaving are never left out.

« Competencies are not marks: they are things that take root, at their own pace. »

Online learning

Courses and learning paths, with Moodle integration.

School reports

Written the way you write them

A Waldorf report is not a table of averages, it is a piece of writing. EMG gives it the room it deserves and takes the rest of the work away.

  • Foreword, pedagogical assessment, absences, school life: each section can be switched on or off to match your practice.
  • The pedagogical assessment takes up to 10,000 characters. Nobody will ask you to cut it short.
  • Bulk creation by class and by term: you don't build reports one at a time.
  • Each section has its author, and the “my assessments” page shows everyone what they still have to write.
  • PDF export for sending to families.

Class 5 · Second term

Foreword

This year the class worked through freehand geometry and staged a performance in late spring.

Pedagogical assessment

Going through drawing unlocked something. Where arithmetic had been a sequence of learned gestures, it is slowly becoming an intention: the shape is now anticipated before the line is drawn. Rigour will follow on its own, and there is no use forcing it. In handwork, the perseverance is remarkable — the first attempt is rarely the right one, and that seems to be precisely what holds the interest.

Assessment

More than one pair of eyes

The teacher is not the only one who sees an activity. The student and their tutor do too — and nobody has to create an account.

  • The teacher assesses from their own space: competencies reached, appraisal, long comment.
  • The student self-assesses through a link. No account, no password.
  • A third party — parent, placement tutor, visiting teacher — assesses through their own link, separate from the student's.
  • Links accept a single submission and stop working afterwards.

Competencies

What takes root

Competencies are organised as a tree — framework, domains, competencies — and attainment reads as growth rather than as a mark.

  • A tree-shaped framework: one framework, domains, competencies as leaves.
  • The attainment scale is configurable per school.
  • Every assessed competency stays attached to the activity that exercised it.

Student portfolio

One year, one chapter

At the end of the schooling a book remains: a chapter for each year, a trace for each activity. The student reads their own path there, not a stack of archived reports.

  • One chapter per school year, from kindergarten to the final class.
  • The photographs and work kept along the way.
  • The teachers' words, in the year where they were written.
A branch for each year, a leaf for each activity.

Getting started

How it goes

  1. 1

    We open your school's space

Your classes, cycles, grade levels and terms are entered as you use them. Families and links follow.

  2. 2

You switch on the modules you need

Nothing forces you to take everything. The portfolio on its own is a common starting point.

  3. 3

    Your teams sign in once

One identity for every module. Two-factor authentication and passkeys if you want them.

Administration

What protects your data

Single sign-on

One identity for every module, through an OpenID Connect identity server. One sign-out too.

Two-factor authentication

One-time codes and WebAuthn passkeys, enabled per user.

Storage isolated per school

Each organisation has its own file space, with its access credentials encrypted at rest.

Token-based assessment links

Links sent to students and tutors open only the form concerned, only once.
